Terms of Use

Last updated: 27 May 2026

By using AskVax you agree to these terms.

AskVax is an AI clinical decision support tool

AskVax uses artificial intelligence to interpret and answer questions about the Australian Immunisation Handbook. Responses may contain errors and must not be acted on without independent verification.

Verify every answer against the Handbook

AskVax provides direct citation links to each Handbook page used. Open them. Confirm the recommendation against the current Handbook text before clinical action. The Handbook (immunisationhandbook.health.gov.au) remains the authoritative source.

AskVax does not replace clinical judgement

It is a decision support tool, not a substitute for your training, clinical reasoning, or professional responsibilities. The treating clinician retains full responsibility for every immunisation decision.

No medical advice to patients

AskVax does not provide medical advice to patients and does not create a clinician–patient relationship between AskVax and any individual. Do not share AskVax responses with patients as definitive guidance.

No warranty

AskVax answers are provided "as is" with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, or fitness for purpose. The Handbook is updated periodically; AskVax may not reflect the most recent updates.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, AskVax and Better Billing Pty Ltd are not liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from use of or reliance on AskVax responses. Clinicians using AskVax accept full responsibility for their clinical decisions.

Authorised use only

AskVax is invite-only during pilot. Credentials are personal and non-transferable. Do not include patient-identifying information in queries.

Independence

AskVax is operated independently of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Handbook content is reproduced under Creative Commons BY 4.0 Australia.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AskVax (operated by Better Billing Pty Ltd) collects, uses, and protects information from authorised pilot users. AskVax is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Your email address (required to create an account). Your password, stored as a one-way hash via Supabase Auth — never visible to AskVax staff. The questions you ask AskVax (sent to CustomGPT.ai to generate answers). Any feedback you submit via the "Report an issue" form. Standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and timestamps.

What we do not collect

AskVax does not knowingly collect patient-identifying information. Do not include patient names, dates of birth, Medicare numbers, or other identifiers in your questions. AskVax does not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

Why we collect it

To authenticate you and provide access to AskVax; to improve answer quality (queries may be reviewed in aggregate by AskVax staff); to respond to your feedback; to meet our legal obligations.

Who has access

Third-party service providers necessary to run the service: Supabase (authentication and user database), CustomGPT.ai (AI engine; servers in the United States), and Netlify (website hosting; servers in the United States). Authorities, only if required by law. We do not sell your information.

Data location

Account data is hosted by Supabase. AI question processing occurs on CustomGPT.ai's servers in the United States. By using AskVax you consent to your questions being processed offshore.

Data retention

Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account closure. Query logs are retained for service improvement; logs older than 12 months are anonymised or deleted. Feedback submissions are retained while issue resolution is in progress, then archived.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, correction of any inaccuracies, deletion of your account, and a copy of your data in a portable format. Email ash@betterbilling.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest (via Supabase), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users without undue delay in the event of a data breach.
